Former President Trump stated on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the presidential home.

He noted that he spoke to her family and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Heartbreaking Shooting

US army specialist Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.

Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in critical condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have taken place in their remembrance.

The president stated he’s discussed a White House visit for the families of both members of the state Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” the president informed the press. “And likewise with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Community members gathered over the past few days at the high school in the state to remember Beckstrom.

Both they had been serving with the military unit as part of Trump’s national effort to aid policing efforts in the capital.

“She was the kind of student that teachers desired. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a positive energy that inspired those around her,” the principal, the head of her previous school, stated to the media. “She was sweet, compassionate and always willing to assist people.”

Funeral details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Steps and Policy Adjustments

Law enforcement have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with one count of homicide and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The incident led the government to suspend asylum processing and cease issuing entry permits to holders of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Wolfe

The airman, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, as reported by the Associated Press.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor the governor stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general stated on a news show that she also intended to meet with Wolfe’s family.

Memory of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a military police officer with honor, according to the military.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had fortitude,” the governor told the gathering at the memorial. “Though her life ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
