The Streaming Giant Selects Spot-On Performer for Bon Clay in One Piece Upcoming Installment

Baroque Works is geared up to exert significant influence in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, even if the true confrontation isn’t set to occur until season 3, and a cherished, audience-beloved member has recently been selected.

Netflix announced Tuesday that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece cast for the third season and will embody Bon Clay. Bon Clay has the ability to change into an exact copy of any person they’ve touched with their dominant hand. Escola, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, will portray a interpretation of that character reimagined as gender non-binary, as opposed to as a drag performer, in the real-life adaptation, unlike the source material and animated series.

Escola joins a number of recently announced actors who will portray the group to the screen, such as head Mr. 0, played by the well-known actor, Sophia Anne Caruso as another operative, and a familiar face, who will appear as the cast as King Nefertari Cobra of the fictional land.

Though the role is a key figure of Baroque Works, the character won’t appear until One Piece season 3. With the second season set to cover the Little Garden arc, this marks a notable change in the schedule of the character’s debut, one that could suggest more adjustments to the story’s structure.

The actor’s combination of sharp comedic timing and deep sensitivity makes them a ideal selection for the character. In addition to their recent voice performance in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and multiple awards for writing and starring in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, emphasizing the versatility they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s most celebrated roles.

Netflix's live-action One Piece program is set to return for its season two on the tenth of March, 2026.
