The Hit Drama Announced for Seventh Series on BBC
The beloved police drama Line of Duty will make a comeback for its seventh installment, announced by the broadcaster.
An upcoming six-episode series created by the show's creator will begin filming in Belfast this spring, according to the production team.
The actress expressed excitement about the return, stating she was "thrilled" about the show's renewal. Her co-star added, "What a joy it is to know that the Three Amigos will be back filming together soon."
The last series wrapped up in recent years with a finale that attracted over 17 million viewers. Rumors about a new season have been circulating for some time, but confirmation only arrived this week.
Fresh Obstacles for AC-12
Series seven begins with AC-12 having been disbanded and rebranded as the new police oversight body, as revealed by the announcement.
Martin Compston's character, Vicky McClure's role, and Ted Hastings continue working to tackle corruption within the police force.
Their work "has never been more difficult", and under these circumstances, the trio are assigned their "most delicate case so far."
Fresh Face and Complex Case
An additional officer, DI Dominic Gough, portrayed as a charming officer celebrated for busts of criminal networks, is accused of abusing his position to act as a sexual predator.
Yet, this investigation might serve as a deliberate distraction from a bigger threat still active in the shadows, plot details suggested.
In a statement, Jed Mercurio said: "All cast and crew are deeply thankful to the dedicated viewers."
"We're privileged to have had countless followers watch the developments of the unit over multiple series and we are thrilled to be coming back for a new season."
He added: "Misconduct in this country was thought to be over while the series was off air, so I've been forced to use my imagination."
Actor Responses
The Scottish actor described appearing in the police drama as "the role of a career".
"Not only the show's success but the colleagues I've worked with I now call dear friends."
"I can't wait to wear the uniform again and reunite with everyone," he said.
The Nottingham-born actress stated: "Obviously I'm so excited the show is back! Eager to work with Jed, Martin and Dunbar again. Belfast, we'll be there shortly!"

Series Legacy
The drama premiered in the early 2010s and became a highly successful TV dramas of the last decade, featuring notable actors such as Stephen Graham.
Broadcasters haven't revealed exactly the new season will premiere.
The finale of series six brought the extended plot about the hunt for criminal mastermind known as "the mysterious H" to a close, and the creative team said at the time there were no intentions for further series.
However, the corporation confirmed on Tuesday that a new season is now being produced.
