Nigel Farage Claims Teachers of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics
The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike within weeks a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “poisoning our kids” by instructing students that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
At a gathering for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his perspective on the UK education system, stating that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I’m anticipating a walkout by educators very quickly after securing a victory,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.
“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”
Reacting to these assertions, the head of a major education union rejected the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. He pointed out that industrial action must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these right after taking office.
“Farage has built his public life on coded rhetoric and now, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a conflict,” the union leader said.
“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, particularly schooling … and the outcome would be catastrophic for students and learning.”
The party, which is leading the polls by a significant margin, has provided limited specifics on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have appointed an education spokesperson.
Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks indicated the group would reform the system and the curriculum. He said: “We have got a massive job with education – absolutely herculean. And, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”
He stated that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Honoring a conservative activist, Farage said: “All I want education to do to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that multiple perspectives exist and they should decide for themselves as opposed to current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”
Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
Farage has accused the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted at school, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and maintained that the union is trying to indoctrinate youth opposed to his party.
Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has about 450,000 members.
National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for children.
At the US event, the Reform leader also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the institution in the UK. He said such groups were “part of the fightback”, noting: “I am serious. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of young people to these educational programs. I make that commitment tonight and I will follow through.”
The institution, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of freedom. It offers these excellent programs for free to all who wish to learn.”
