Jurgen Klopp states a return to manage Liverpool is plausible in theory.

The German coach, who left Liverpool in 2024, indicated that returning someday remains an option. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-year spell that included a European Cup triumph and the Premier League crown in 30 years, now holds positions in a global football capacity for Red Bull and in an advisory capacity with the German Football League.

Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

Liverpool won the league title last season, yet numerous supporters who adore the manager would be thrilled by the idea that he might come back one day. In a wide-ranging interview, he explained to Steven Bartlett: “I declared I refuse to lead any other side on English soil. So that means if then it’s Liverpool...yeah. In theory, it could happen.”

“I’m 58, so I might decide in a few years, it's uncertain. Is a decision required immediately? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, I don’t have to do that. I'll simply watch what the future brings.”

Conditions for a Comeback

When asked about the specific conditions would need to occur to bring him back to the touchline, Klopp admitted he isn't eager toward coming back. “It's unclear to me, I love what I do right now,” he said. “I don't crave being a coach; I avoid standing in the rain for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to media briefings repeatedly each week or having 10-12 interviews weekly.

“The locker room isn't missed as a dressing room, however, dining out alongside the squad enjoying conversation, I appreciate that. Success was frequent thus frequently great spirits at the club. Remaining with me is the captain's chuckle in my ear for example.”

Commending Arne Slot

He spoke highly of the current boss, praising him for the adjustments that took the title last campaign. The team has suffered a string of losses in all competitions after a summer spending spree, though he denied the suggestion of it representing a slump.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker like Florian Wirtz, critics will regret with negative comments. An outstanding player. The French striker, incredible player. This is a well-built balanced team. You don’t have to worry about Liverpool, they'll bounce back.”

Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota

Klopp also spoke emotionally about the death of Jota, whom he brought in in 2020, and its impact for the team. Jota lost his life in a road accident alongside his brother this past summer.

“How do you replace somebody like Diogo? It goes beyond his on-field talent, it’s the guy he was. I struggle to conceive the squad missing him. Putting it into words is tough about it. A devastating blow for his teammates also. Not a single person would cite it as an excuse yet it's the reality. Entering the changing area where his spirit remains. Coping with it on a personal level is difficult. Impossible.”
