Stateside performer Pat Finn, who was seen in popular programs including Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away at the age of 60.

The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in LA on Monday having undergone cancer treatment beginning in 2022, per media reports.

"He saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he hadn't encountered," his family said in a statement.

They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with zest and passion".

An Extensive TV Career

Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he played the titular character's brother.

He was also seen in a regular part on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.

He starred as the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a host who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.

During the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous hit series, such as:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight series between 2011 and 2018.

His work in movies include It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

A Life in Improv

Away from his television work, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was involved with a six-member improv team named Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn guided, supported, and advised countless students over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

In a tribute, peer actor Richard Kind remarked there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, making those around him better and funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he posted publicly.

Pat Finn is remembered by his partner Donna, his children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
