Canada's Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Matchup With the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder contributed to the Houston Astros claiming the World Series in 2017.

The Toronto Blue Jays advanced to their maiden World Series following the 1993 season by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive game seven of the American League Championship Series.

Trailing three runs to one, Springer delivered a three-run home run in the seventh frame, guiding the Toronto squad in MLB to a four games to three triumph in the best-of-seven series. Awaiting them are the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the current crown, in the forthcoming World Series.

"I'm just so happy for everyone here, our city, the nation," said Springer, a star of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 championship. "This is such an unbelievable moment."

Springer has now hit 23 playoff homers, placing him third all-time trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (27).

"There's probably not another person anywhere that I'd choose in that moment besides him with his post-season brilliance," remarked Schneider.

Seattle, despite leading the early in the series, are still the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a World Series.

Wilson stated "without a doubt that it's painful" following his club's elimination at their home ballpark, but applauded their performance throughout the year.

"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we finished on the losing end of this game," he added.

The Blue Jays secured the championship on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and will host the Los Angeles in game one on this Friday.
